The Memory Palace Blueprint: How to Build One That Actually Works
Far too many people struggle to this technique right. Here's how to avoid issue and remember massive amounts of information, on command.
You’ve probably heard of the Memory Palace technique.
But what you might not know is why many people try memory techniques like this, and wind up overwhelmed, disappointed…
And in far too many cases…
Never to return.
That’s a shame.
Because when you develop your Memory Palaces in the best possible way, this technique can become the most powerful learning tool in your arsenal.
Common Mistakes You Can Avoid
When starting out, a lot of people:
Make their Memory Palaces too abstract
Use imaginary instead of real locations
Don’t test out the technique quickly enough with real content
If testing, they practice with unimportant information, rather than starting with meaningful material that immediately makes life better
Don’t realize you need another technique to use inside of Memory Palaces (ars combinatoria or the art of combination)
The Real Blueprint You Need
My students who succeed do this instead:
Base their Memory Palaces on real locations they know well (home, school, libraries, cafes, anything familiar)
Walk the location mentally a few times by starting at the “Terminal Station” (more on this below)
Avoid crossing their own path
Use proper “Magnetic Associations” along their Memory Palace journeys selected precisely to reduce cognitive load
Test by recalling forward, backward and in a few other patterns
What’s a Terminal Station?
It’s the dead-end in the Memory Palace.
When you start there, you move out toward the exit. This leaves you free to add many more stops along your journey.
But so many trainings tell you to start at your door and move inward.
Sure, this can work.
But it leads many to feel like they’re running out of space.
And done the wrong way, they’re right. You will
A Magnetic Bridge to What’s Next
In my next issue, I’ll show you how to stack multiple Memory Palaces together.
That way, you can develop a complete Memory Palace Network that assists in using these mnemonic devices in combination with the art of combination.
And if you’d like more now, check out the Magnetic Memory Method and grab the free starter course while you’re there.
It gives you four video tutorials and three worksheets that walk you through the best ways to craft your Memory Palaces right.
From the get-go.
